SIGNS OF TOXIC PARENTS || Parents and the care takers are
the one who has a major role in development of children and children too expect
love and care from their parents. But, what if I say, some parents knowingly or unknowingly dissolve toxicity in their child’s
life.
What would be your reaction if I
tell you In 2008 in USA the administration department of health and human
services reported that more than 50,000 are counted under the victimization of
emotional abuse.
Following are some toxic sayings
delivered to their children which can hinder their overall growth. If you are a
parent or caretaker of some please do avoid these or if you are a child then do
keep this in mind, this also goes in this world.
1 Offensive words
The sentences like “you’re too
fat” “you’re too skinny, why don’t you eat something” “you are too short” etc.
Saying these things to children or abusive language which are based on their appearances,
even if in a funny manner, could lead to serious problems. Children start to
think that there is something wrong with them which could lead to depression,
body shaming , low self esteem etc.
2. Provocative orders with regard
to their actions.
“Don’t talk like this” , “ Speak
like this” , “Chew in that way” are some examples.
These sentences make a negative
impact on children. They start to think, they really are stupid and they need
to ordered to perform anything in an appropriate manner. This could lead to
self doubt , early depression and anxiety when facing unknown situations.
The bigger problem arises from
the next thing I am going to tell you about.
3. Abusive words
When parents are not satisfied by
their child or some mistake is being done by their child they scold and abuse
them. “You are stupid” , “You are worthless” , “ You will not be able to do
anything” and not only this but also all those “mf” words.
This lead to building a life long
fear in them , hence ruining their entire life.
4. Wishes that are full of
selfishness.
These can create a sense of
hatred in the children themselves. “I wish you were not born” , “I wish I had
abortion that time” , “I wish there would be someone better and intelligent
than you.” Are some of the examples.
These sentences may prove the
most dangerous ones. The children lose their self worth , low self esteem and
could even commit self harming activities.
5. Unhealthy comparison with
others
“You are not like you siblings” ,
“You should be like that topper boy in your class” , “you should be like that
child “ etc. This could lead to a serious toxicity in their life resulting early depression , under confidence.
6. The threatening abandonments
The abandonments like I will
leave you , I will throw you out of the house , I will disappear next day.
These things gets fixed in the mind for the entire life. This could lead to
distrust on others , sense of not trusting on the others persons. These are
ingrained in our mind in such a way , we could not even trust our future
relationships.
7. Fake Promises
First they make you a promise and
not make it. For example , if you do this , I will buy you this , I will take
you take and when time comes, they do not do it.
This is an excellent way of teaching the children, how not to trust anyone even your parents.
Conclusion, words are not
physically harmful for any one but they are even worse then physical torture.
Childhood is the most essential
part of our life. It is the time when if a child gets the right environment ,
the can build their personalities, attitude and beliefs.
These toxic things can fill a
child’s life with , distrust , hatred towards themselves , self doubt , fear ,
sense of self harming and many more.
Have you experienced any of those
or you have seen this somewhere. Or if you are a parent or going to be future
parent then do share this.
